Move Over, Sal Khan: Sixth-Graders Create Their Own Math Videos!

In which of your classes would you most like to see this idea made into a reality?

Move Over, Sal Khan: Sixth-Graders Create Their Own Math Videos!

  1. I would most like to the see this idea in my math classes, so I could see how to do math problems step by step. We could also use this idea in our peer tutoring class. By sending the students we are tutoring videos of the problem, they could have help without us actually being there. This is a great idea for working out multi-step problems.

  2. I would like to see this idea used in the math classes here. I think that the kids would learn more from hearing their friends explain things, as well as the teachers. Sometimes, especially for teenagers, its easier to listen to and learn from kids your own age than it is with an adult. Most teens don't listen to teachers anyway, maybe we can get them to listen to their classmates.

  3. I would like to see this idea in math classes. It would be easier learning from another student who knows more of how to word and put things. Other kids would be able to show it step-by-step in an easier way that we can relate to.

  4. I think this would be good idea in either Chemistry or math classes, so that the kids that already know how to do it can explain it to kids that don't in a more simpler way than what the teachers do.

  5. I would love to see that happpen here in our classes. I've heard of it happen before were students teach there selves. They would be gien the chapter to do and make a lesson plan pn their own and would be given a test by the teacher at the end of the week. It sky rocketed there grades being able to sit down and work together. And from personal excperience I would rather here from a fellow teen other than a teacher for hours on hours a day

  6. I would like to see this type of thing in any class that has to do with numbers like math and science but also i think it would help in every class that you could put it in because no one wants to listen to a teacher preach and no teacher wants to keep having to stop teaching to stop and get on to a person(s) for disrupting class if we had videos of people our age showing us how to do it that would probably work better.

  7. I would like this in math classes. I think it would be easier for the people who dont pick up as fast as other kids. It would also be a good idea because some people might have a differnt and easier way of doing it.

  8. i think it is a good idea in math classes so that pretty much the kids that know how to do it can teach the others how to do it it would easier on the teachers part too.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I would like to see these used in our math classes. Because it would be a whole lot easier to learn from because we understand how to do it,if its taught to us from somebody that has the same mind frame as us.

  10. I would like to see this is math class so i would be able to see the problems done one at a time, because sometimes I don't understand how to do things. This would be a really good idea so kids that didn't understand things the first time they can go and see it again it would help them alot!

  12. In any math class, because I know that alot of people need help in their math class, because to some math is the hardest subject to them and some people would want it to be broken down into pieces, like into a way that they can understand it better, and not just the long way that the teachers teach it to them.

    ReplyDelete
  13. In my math class,I know people needs help in their math class well some.because some math is very hard and basically the hardest subject. But you know some people would like for some math to be broken down to pieces

  14. In my math class i think we will be able to relate to these sixth grade ideas, because they are so young an they are coming up with these bright an brilliant ideas while they ar young.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I would like to see this in my math class, because math is the hardest subject for me. I think I would make better grades if its done step by step. Also, it may show you other ways to do things besides the way your teacher shows you.

  17. I think that this is a really good idea because there are alot of math students that dont understand how to do it even if the teacher teaches them step by step. For some reason they do alot better with a student because the student will sit down with the person and this person could be your really close friend so they would make it easier.

  18. It would be cool to see this idea used in the math classes at Bibb County. I think that the students would learn more from hearing their friends explain things. Sometimes, teenagers especially, it is easier to listen to and learn from kids that are your age than it is with an adult. Most teens don't listen to teachers, but if they hear their peers maybe they will.

  20. I this this would be a cool idea in math classes. It would be simpler learning from other peers who know how to say and put things in a way that is easier for students to understand. Our peers would be able to present it step by step in a straightforward way that students can relate to.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I think it would be helpful for some people because some people like there stuff to be broken down. It would be easier for some people. I think it is a good idea to have these in math class.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I believe I would like this idea In my math class also. Young kids are improving learning skills as we speak. I believe stuff is learned more when the teacher breaks down the main idea.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I think it would be alot easier to have these in math class and in science. It would be alot easier to understand because some people need their stuff broken down a little more so they can understand it better.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'd like to see this in my math classes, also. I would be able to understand one of my peers teaching me better than I understand my teachers. Someone might know an easier way to do something, and they need to be able to share it.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think it should be in math class because it requires more explaining than the others. As long as I don't have to make the videos I will be okay with it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I would love to use this in my Math class. Math is one of my worst subjects and this would help so much. Sometimes we don't get all that we need to know from just sitting in the classroom. Students teaching students would, in my opinion, be great because we are all on the same level. All of this seems really great.

    ReplyDelete
  27. In math class because i know i that alot of people need help in their math class. Some math is hard and some is easy. i think people should break problems down and do it step by step

    ReplyDelete
  28. I would say my math class because i think it would be better for us we need to learn it step by step so we can do better in that class so I can understand the problems

    ReplyDelete
  29. I think in math class because people have hard times doing math.So they would need help step by step through some problems that they have.

    ReplyDelete
  30. In any math class, everybody need help with math because all math subject is hard and math need to be broken down in pieces

    ReplyDelete
  31. im going with math classes too. Because math can get really hard and some people need help step by step with problems.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think this video should be shown in all the math classes because many students responds that their math teachers explains the math problems in ways they don't understand. If the students divided in groups, they will understand it better and explain to each other the steps on how to do the problems in a simpler way.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'd like to see this in my math classes, also. I would be able to understand one of my peers teaching me better than I understand my teachers. Someone might know an easier way to do something, and they need to be able to share it. Its a fast way to learn and its easy

    ReplyDelete
  34. I think that this should be for all math classes, because it could really make math a lot easier for people who don't get it, and they could see step by step how to do all of it, or they could find out some easier ways for it to be done from their fellow classmates.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I would love to see it in every class so the people don't understand it want slow the rest of the class down if you play a video how to for them.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think this would be a good idea for our math classes. If you had a problem you could see how to do it step by step. Some students don't respond to teachers helping them but they would be more likely to respond to a friend or classmate explaining to them how to the problem.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I think these videos would be best used in a math class. If you have these videos, you can watch how to solve a problem step by step on your own time. These videos could help you with homework, or studying. The videos break everything down into a simpler way that is easier to understand. Teachers and students can share these videos with each other as well.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think this idea should be put into all the classroom. It could make learning for kids much easier if they can help each other.

    ReplyDelete
  39. math class because all other classes are most of the time broken down math thats another story so yes video for math classes would help lots of people.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I think that this idea would be great for math classes. It would help kids learn how to do problems step by step and break it down for them.

    ReplyDelete
  41. i have a INP and i still can do math

    ReplyDelete
  42. I think this video is a good idea. It can help people like me by going step by step. That is good for people like me that can't do the math. I think the 6th graders that made this videos about math understand what we need to do to get A's and B's.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think this would help me in math class going very slow with each step and there's a lot of steps in math. Math is one of my favorite subjects but still find it complicated and i do believe this video about students helping students could help me and alot of others that struggle in math and i also believe this will help everyone pass math because everybody will all work together to be on the same pace and understand it easier.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I more than likely would like this to be a reality in my math classes. t would help me to understand and see the problems better step by step. Being taught by someone close to my age would help also, I'm sure.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I think this would be a good idea for every class. Not only would it be a better way to learn, but it would give the teacher a little extra time for grading and/or writing the trouble makers up and sending them to the office. It could mostly help in classes like math or science but any class could benefit from it

    ReplyDelete
  46. I think this is a very inspirational idea. This would more than likely help students learn it faster. Some students would probably feel less pressure from someone their own age. Besides this would go by a step by step instruction which will help them to better comprehensible.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think this video should be shown in all the math classes because many students responds that their math teachers explains the math problems in ways they don't understand.

    ReplyDelete
  48. It think this idea would help me the most in my math classes. I often have to call a friend to get help on problems in my homework. However, there is only so much explaining one of my peers can do. I can learn something a lot better if one of my friends would show me how to work it out. Also, if you are the one making the video, it will give you a greater of understanding of the concept you are learning.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I would like to see this used in my math class because I think that I, and all my classmates would be able to learn much easier and faster. I think we would all respond better to learning from someone closer to our age.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I would like to see this in my math class because it would help me to understand it better and comprehend it . It would break the math problems I am having trouble with down into step by step problems . This would make it easier for me to understand the math problem and how to work other math problems that are similar to the ones I am having trouble with.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I think this would help me better in my math classes. I think everyone could use this and help them better. When I learn I need to see it step by step.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I would want to see this in my math or chemistry class. Students now and days seem to get more across to their friends then their teachers. So if a friend of mine got up in class and started teaching I would listen. I would appreciate the time they went over it to know what they would say to our class. I think that this would be a good thing for more students to do.

  53. I would like to see this idea in my math class. It would be very helpful to be able to see a problem worked out step-by-step. A lot of times it is a lot easier to understand our peers instead of our teachers because they can explain things in terms we understand. We are also more likely to listen to our friends.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I would like to see this in my math class or chemistry because they both deals with math and it could help more classes in the future by making math easier, better,& faster it also relates in Spanish also because they could video themselves with a camera describing it with flash cards are something similar.

  55. I could definitely help me in my math classes. There are plenty of times that I sit in class and don't fully understand what we are doing. This forces me to either get a friend's help or struggle until I catch on in class. I believe this would help me by breaking the problems down and working them out slowly or at my own pace.

  56. I would have really loved to use this technique in the math class I had last semester. The math class I had was a bit difficult for me because of lack of communication and understanding. I believe this program would have helped me a lot because, as they said, it is much easier to understand work from another student.

  57. I think this would benefit all of our classes. It requires the students to learn and conduct research on their own, which in turn would provide the class with the knowledge they need. It would allow us to learn actively, making every class easier for students when they learn gradually due to exposure; such as one does in the real world.

    ReplyDelete
  58. i think all my boring class but the main class i would want to be this in is geometry Students would actually pay more attention of this and actually would learn more

    ReplyDelete
  59. I hate my classes. I wouldn't want any of my classes to be reality except video games just image in your mind cod or gta in reality it would be awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  60. My choice would be all math classes because math is a very boring subject. Some students need something to constantly grasp their attention so they do not lose focus on what they are there to learn.

    ReplyDelete
  61. All math classes because somethings in math are very hard because we don't always do what we are suppose to do in class like paying attention to the teacher the full hour we are in class and that is why i give this answer.

  64. My Opinion is math class I hate everything about math, If I could pick what I want to learn School would be way easier than all the classes I have now.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I would like to see this idea used in various math classes. I would like to see how others think through and solve problems. It is easier for teenagers to discuss how to solve problems with other teenagers, rather than adults.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I would say math is very hard and will be a challenge as u go to another level

    ReplyDelete
  67. I think that they should use this in math class. I think it is good for teens to think through and solve it with another teen I believe that it would be better than talking to an adult.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I think this is a great idea, It will help students who have a hard time learn how to actually break down the problems and show them how to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I'd like to see this idea used in the math classes here. I think that kids would learn more from hearing their peers explain things . Sometimes it's easier to listen to and learn from kids your own age than with a adult. Most teens don't listen to teachers anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I think that its a good idea because if students hear stuff from their own it'll make them understand it better. This will be used the best in math class for Middle School students.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I Definitely think this is a brilliant idea, Math is one of the hardest subjects in school to learn and we need to be provided with more help. I believe most of my classmates would agree with me.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I think I would like my math claass to becaome like a virtually reality because in my opinion it would help kids all over the world with the problem .But I wouldn't do it do just one class I would do it to all because it would help so many kids around the worold to help understand their subjects.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I think this would be a good idea to try. It would be easier for me to learn from one of my friends than a teacher. Most of the time we don't listen to the teachers. Maybe it would be easier to listen to the same age people than someone older than us. It could help me understand it easier.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I would see this in math becouse most people are having trouble in math and i think it would be great! Me in math is the hardest there can be a teacher that goes fast or one that you dont understand what are they talking about so i think this is a good idea and maybe you can use this in more classes to help too.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I would like this in math because it could really help out on step's that I don't really know how to do especially in Geometry 1B. Because it's really hard to learn what the example's say in the book then the teacher show you a different way.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I love this idea of students teaching students because I know for a fact that I don't always understand it when teachers teach it but when someone else shows me I understand it better. So I really would like to see this done in Ms. Watkins Geometry class.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I would like to see this idea put to use in math classes. The reason I think this idea would work well is because me being a student would have more patience then a teacher trying to explain myself. Teachers sometime speed past a subject because a student is afraid to tell the teacher they are struggling. For fear that the students will make fun of them.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I would like for this idea to be used in math classes, because I would rather listen to a student then a teacher because the teacher get's flustrated repeating themselves so a student trying to help would be much better and would keep my attention better.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I would like to see this in math classes because i think students would listen to each other. Its like students teaching students.i would rather listen to somebody im really close with then to listen to a teacher who just makes stuff hard most of the time.and plus just the fact of students teaching students is cool

    ReplyDelete
  80. This idea should be used for my classroom, no matter what the grade level is. More students would learn about math in a fun way to see their friends and teachers teaching math problems step by step.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I think Courtney Cox meant, "Students now a days seem to get more across to their friends than their teachers."

    ReplyDelete
  82. I think this idea should be used in math class, because I would rather listen to a student then the teacher because of the teacher be teaching to fast. The student would go step by step trying to explain.
