Youngest Billionaires of 2013

The Youngest Billionaires Of 2013

The Youngest Billionaires Of 2013

These 29 billionaires are all under 40 years old.

How many of these people made their fortune in a tech-related field?  What does that imply for your future, in terms of the changing economy, your future job choices, training, etc.?  Should this influence your decisions in terms of a career path down the road?  Or the classes you choose to take in college?

How did the rest of the billionaires make their money?
What industries were making the most money 100 years ago?  50 years ago?  How do you think things changed since then?

  1. Probably about 30 billion people. It implies nothing for my future because I think rich people might actually change our economy if they are rich enough to make our future better. I am not going to college because I am going into the marines when I get 18. Yes, because down the road if I get a great job I will probably make a lot of money. I don't know what industries were making the most money 50 years ago. A lot has changed the economy and the government

  2. they all must have got a very good job and then they would have probably worked at job for a good bit of years and got an insane buget of money I wish I could have that much money in my wallet.

  4. A lot of the billionaires fortune came from tech-related stuff. It shows that there are a lot of ways that people can be successful, and that in the future there are plenty of opportunities to acheive wealth. This does not affect the classes I want to take in college becuse I don't want to do anything tech-related. A long time ago car industries were making money. And now there are multiple ways to make money.

    1. That's interesting...I'm a little surprised that you have been able to find a major in college that doesn't require any technology. You are absolutely right about the auto industry, though - the automobile was one of the biggest innovations of the last century.

  6. Most of of the jobs has something to do with technology. My job that I want will have me on computers all the time so it wont change my job choice. I don't think it will change my decisions for my career path or my college classes. I don't know what the highest paying jobs from fifty or one hundred years ago were.

  7. There are eleven people who made their fortune from tech that are listed in the article. That kind of says that big tech jobs are on the rise and have alot of room to grow in the future. The companies that have been making billions the longest are things like steel, grain, hotels, and transportation.

  8. About 10 of them made their fortune about technology, they imply my future by letting me want to do what they doing, my future job choices are NBA and or National Guard, the classes i chose to take in College is Math and Language.

  9. I think that there are 11 people that are billionaires and that have made money in a tech related field.I don't exactly know how it could imply to my future and my future job choices.this can influence my decisions of a career path down the road.I don't know what industries were making the most money 100 years ago nor 50 years ago. i don't know how things changed compared to today, because i wasn't there to see it.

  10. A little under half of these people made their fortune with technology. There will be more jobs in technology than anything else before we know it. This shouldn't influence your decision on what you want to do though, or the classes you take in college. Car industries made money back then. Technology has changed many jobs.

  11. How many of these people made their fortune in a tech-related field? Eleven of thoes people made the fortune in a tech-related field. It changes nothing in my career path, I dont want to do anythng that has to do with tecnology. It dont influence my career path, but it may other people. I dont want to take a computer class in college cause comouters get on my nerves and they dont work half the time and they annoying. People can be successful in many ways not just computer or technolgy. yeah it good they made a living on technology but i aint. In the blog there was many other people that made a living, not just in technology, they were either born into it or made it.

  12. Just under half of these billionaires made their money in a tech related field. This shows me that the world is changing greatly. A lot of our population is now making their money off computers or other forms of technology. This also tells me that there is a lot of money to be made in technology. This should make most people consider a career in something to do with technology or at least take some classes that focus on technology. A lot of the other billionaires inherited money from their parents and a few made money from oil or diamond mining. I think 100 and 50 years ago the most money was in mechanical things such as cars, the cotton gin, or steel mills. However, technology is taking their place

  13. 10 people made their money in a tech-related field. That tells me that even though the technology industry is blooming, the odds of me getting through and making it to the billionaires are slim. I believe it shouldn't influence any of my decisions. My goals in life do not reflect money. My goals are not to make it to the billionaires there fore my happiness will not be subjected to the low levels money forces upon us.

The rest of the billionaires made their money through steel, oil, plants, etc. They created companies that specialized in things the world needed. 100 years ago things like meat and food were on top, things such as agriculture were the blossom. Later in the 50s materials and more industrial topics began to draw the majority of industry.

  14. I read that under half of the billionaires made their money in this technology related field. Many people now and days are coming up with new things while technology keeps on and on improving. This shows that technology has a lot of money in it if you get involved in it. People should really consider getting jobs in technology fields because like the blog said they do pay a whole bunch. Like Seth said people fifty years ago did make the most money with their inventions (cotton gin, steel mill)and was very right when he said that their places was being taken by new inventions. Now we have tractors and computers to do all the things we used to have to do by hand. Very interesting blog!

  15. A great percent of the millionaires now make their money from a tech-related field. Technology is a major part of our society in this generation. A majority of the jobs now require some form of technology. Technology can make us make a lot of money. This tells me that in the future my career path (whatever I may choose) will probably require technology. This means I need to apply myself more into learning more about it. In the past, say 50-100 years ago, good money was made by farming or working in factories: labor requiring jobs. Now, technology is now taking over these kind of jobs because we have electronics that can do it for us.

  16. The American workplace is rapidly changing. In the past, workers went to their jobs to perform a task. Now, the workplace is changing into a place where workers both work and learn, as companies transform themselves into learning organizations. How did the rest of the billionaires make their money? It takes money to make money, as the saying goes. Take a certain amount of money out of your paycheck as soon as you get paid and put it in a savings account, to be used for future investments or to simply collect interest.

  17. Half of the the billionaires are rich due to the use of tech-related fields. Technology affects my future in very little ways. People can be successful in many ways not just computer or technology. yes it good they made a living on technology there are many other ways that people make a living, not just in technology. A few of the people inherited their fortune. A 100 years ago filmmaking crews were the highest money making industry, 50 years ago it was metal making and oil industry. I think this have changed very fast.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I think its fairly obvious how our society is moving closer towards reliance on technology everyday. More and more jobs use technology in the workplace everyday and know the effectiveness computers and other technologies produce. I would love to work with some sort of groundbreaking technology although I hope everyone remembers that people will always be more important than machines and may need that job that a machine replaces. I think colleges are doing a good job of providing a variety of diff rent courses for students to take, however they should focus more on different technologies than just computers

    ReplyDelete
  19. Over half of people are rich because of tech related job, others are rich because of family inheritance. I believe this means that more people could live a better life (money wise), if they just worked really hard at their job. It also means that everyone would probably try to make inventions and these could help our economy. This should influence a lot of young adults to strive to do their best.

  24. Almost half of the billionaires now acquire their money from a tech-related field. This implies that when I am old enough to work, whatever I do it will probably have something to do with technology. This should definitely influence my decisions while choosing a career path and the classes I take in college. I should probably be leaning more toward something that deals with technology if I wan to succeed because the world of technology is growing very rapidly. Many of the other billionaires inherited their money from their parents. I think 100 years ago the agriculture industry was probably making the most money. 50 years ago, it was probably mostly metal making and oil industry. I think mostly things have changed since then because technology is taking the place of many jobs. People in the past have been let go because they no longer need their services. We now have technology running many things that man used to have to work.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Half the people made made money doing technology. I think that we rely to much on technology though everything we do is tech related. I do not want a job in any kind of technology I find some of it very confusing. I think that you can be in a job without technology and be just as successful as people who dont so I dont want to be in any tech. I believe though by the time I get older everything is going to have to do with technology and we will rely fully on technology.

    ReplyDelete
  26. About half of the people on the list made their fortune off of a tech-related profession. This shows that jobs in the future will be almost completely tech-related. I will probably take more classes on computers and technology in college because everything is becoming technology-based. A lot of people inherited their money, or were born into their fortune. A hundred years ago the steel industry was booming. In the last century the auto industry was the greatest.

  29. Almost 12 of them made their money from technology. Even thought technology has came very far over the years, I do not believe it implies anything for my future. I don't want a job dealing with technology, I've always wanted to go into cosmetology, or be a hairdresser. As far as the other billionaires, most made their money from banking or agriculture. 100 years ago, oil industries were probably making the most money. 50 years ago, I think steel industries probably made the most money. Many things have changed since then. Most jobs use some kind of technology, which makes it way easier.

  30. There were many people that earned their money in something tech related. Their ages are different. I don't really want to have a job in something tech related. No it doesn't influence the paths I take or the college courses that I take. Other billionaires mainly make their money from professional sports or acting. Car companies used to be a money making industry. Now you can make billions of dollars other ways.

  35. Many of these billionaires made there money in tech related fields. This shows that you cam become wealthy through creating technology, it also shows that in the future there will be so much new technology if it keeps progressing like this. This doesn't affect the classes i want to take in college. My carrier path doesn't really have anything to do with technology.

    ReplyDelete
  36. At least half of them made their fortune on tech related stuff. They make the job field of technology a little wider than it was years ago. My future jobs I want are either an engineer or somewhere in the Armed Forces. It might affect some of my job choices but not significantly. I plan on taking college classes after I get out of the Armed Forces and get a degree in mechanical engineering. The rest of the millionaires made their money on industrial related material. The most profitable industry 100 years ago were electrical companies and private companies.

    1. A lot of these billionaires get their wealth from the tech-industry. This does not really imply for any of my future choices. I give this advice to anybody, I think everybody in their life time need a little technology because many things today require technology so I recommend anybody who doesn't use technology you need to learn now cause if you don't its going to be a huge impact on your everyday life. this kind of influence me to learn a little bit more technology cause life is rolling. This does not make a huge impact on my career goals or my major in college nor any of my college classes I will be taken one I get to college.

      Delete
  37. Yes i think that most of the wealth comes from the tech-industry .This does not effect my career goal or anything like that. By this my decisions about my college plans will be still the same. I think that everybody needs a little technology.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Not many of these people have became billionaires through working with technology. This will change the economy because some of these people will bring in new technology, and others will be a waste of money and time. No matter how many new things come along its still my choice in what career and college route I decide to take. Most of these billionaires have made their money through t.v. shows, singing, and other things that we don't exactly need to improve the economy. 50 to 100 years ago automobile, and machinery careers were making the most money.

    ReplyDelete
  39. A lot of the billionaires obtain there wealth through the tech-industry. However, that doesn't mean that it will affect anything I do in my lifetime because i don't enjoy tech-related things as much as some of the people around me it's not my passion so therefore i don't want to do it because the purpose of life isn't to see who can make the most or to have the most money because if your job isn't something you enjoy doing although your getting a lot of money for doing that job your still don't have any wealth because to have a life and spending your life doing something you don't enjoy well that's not much of a life at all is it? As far as the timeline of high money paying jobs goes id say 100 years ago since they were still building america i would say things like locomotives made the most money then next things like cotton food stuff like that 50 years ago things like steel and iron and homebuilders.

  41. 11 of the 29 Billionaires under 40 made their money in tech-related ways. A few were founders/co-founders of things like Facebook, Twitter, and Google. I really don't plan on doing anything Tech-related in college or as a career, so this doesn't influence my decisions about college or career options.
Most of the other 18 billionaires inherited their money.
I'm sure that car companies were huge money making industries before the technology got so advanced.

  42. At least half of these people made their fortune in a tech-related field. This means that most all of our jobs are becoming more advanced in technology. The economy is changing tremendously. Technology is advancing each and every day. This should influence my future job choice because I need to think about the future. I believe that everyone should take technology classes so they aren't left in the dark about electronics and how to use them. Some of the other billionares made their money through inheritence. The automobile and production industries were making the most money 50 to 100 years ago. Much of the machinery and dtechnology has improved since then to make production easier and faster.

Technology has changed so much in the last 100 years. 100 years ago technology was horrible but now it is great and has helped a lot of people continue down the right path to their careers this should influence my future jobs because technology will help me with my future choices because its easier to learn with technology

  45. About 10 or 11 of these billionaires got their money in technology related ways. Some of the rest of these billionaires got their money from inheritance. This effects my future job decision in a small way because i was already planning on getting a tech related job after college, Game Designer or Tester. In the past 100 years, people like Henry Ford became a billionaire in the technologically related fields of automobiles or the electrical companies. In the past 50 years, companies like Nintendo and Sega became fortune holders in the ever growing video game industry.

  46. 1) 12 Of the people, out of 30, made they're first investment in technology.
    2) Technology doesn't have much to do with my future job. I plan on being a professional massage therapist, but in college I'm sure I have to take some classes that have to do with electronics such as computers or televisions.
3)It doesn't really influence me much to do anything else or take any other classes in college that I already hope to accomplish in my future.
    4) Few of them had they're career take off by designing clothing and in the culinary business, oceanography, finance business, and construction working.
    5) 100 years ago clothing, farming and small factories and construction was also a big part of work in the 1900's while 50 construction and new technology such as television and telephones were most blooming jobs aside from movies being made. (old ones that more than likely were mute).
    6) There are plenty of things have changed in technology and clothes since a hundred or fifty years ago we don't have cords on our phones anymore, our clothes have changed, like our shorts and dresses getting shorter our shirts getting lower and so on and so on, our food has gotten more unhealthy, our technology for computers is more efficient and faster, we have more social networks (Lord help us) and our construction building is better.

  47. Half of the billionaires got rich from doing something with technology. I think this would make a lot of people want to take a lot of classes dealing with technology in college and try to get a job in that field. Technology is going to make our new world, and everything is going to involve technology, no matter what it is.

Every other billionaire got rich from inheritance, maainly. They got their parents money when something serious happened to them.

  48. That I seen more than 10 people made their money from some type of technology. For my future this may have a lot to concern me with because I want to be some type of engineer, I haven't decided what type yet. It doesn't influence me at all to do nothing but strive for more to make money like them and one day be an billionaire. Also about 100 years ago clothing, farming, construction, and factories whhile 50 years ago technolgy and stuff had it

  49. Most of the billionaires fortune came from tech-related stuff. A few examples are Bill Gates and the discovery of microsoft and Mark Zuckererberg and the founding of Facebook. It shows that technology has a great affect on people lives and the money they make. This really doesn't affect my major to much I want to major in business so it may do in the long run. The plow and other farming tools made a lot of people rich back in the day also the cotton gin caused a massive increase in peoples finacial life.

  50. Most of these people, and many others, made their fortune in a tech--related field. Most, if not all of the well-paying careers in the present economy are tech-related. This is very ironic for me because I don't want to do anything tech-realated in college or as a career. The other billionaires earned their money by inventing something or they inherited it. Car factories and other industrial places were making the most money 50 and 100 years ago. All the money is in the technology business now.

  51. About 10 billionaires have made majority of their money from tech- related fields. In the future pretty much everyone will rely on the tech- related fields to communicate with each other. Yes, because I may need to take some classes in college to stay up to date with the latest technology, so I will know how to use tech- related equipment's.

Some inherited it from their family.

100 years ago the Clorox industry was making the most money. 50 years ago the camera industry was making the most money. Well to me it really hasn't changed that much it just has gotten better and easier with the new technology that we have today. Also, we use some of the same brands they used 100 years ago.

  54. Many billionaires made money by inventing a useful technology. Everyday, new technology is shipped to the stores, if it is a new update of a phone or computer, you cannot keep up with technology. In my future, I want to be a computer engineer so that one day, I can make enough money to afford the things I need. Other billionaires makes money by inheriting. Car factories and other industrial companies made the most money 50 and 100 years ago. Technology today, makes more money than any other company.
